NOTE FROM THE EDITOR After the 2009 Annual General Meeting in St.John’s, NL, last September, I accepted to take on the job of editor of CABO’s newsletter Post Play. My main goal was to avoid the lapses that have occurred over the past few years in the frequency and timeliness of publishing this important link to the grassroots members. So far, I have painfully failed to reach that objective and, for that, I offer to each and everyone of the CABO members my most sincere apologies. I will spare you the details, but, in the past few months, circumstances both personal and professional have made it very difficult for me to fulfill my duties as Post Play editor. I certainly expect my context to be more favourable from now on. The intention is to publish three issues of the newsletter every year: one in October, one in February and one in May or June. The newsletter of a national organization such as CABO cannot be the forum of only one person. Contributions are needed from all over the country. First and foremost, provincial leaders (supervisors and interpreters) should keep the editor informed of the goings on in their respective province. Happy events, successes of individual members, issues confronting members could be materials of interest for the rest of the country. Only when we share our difficulties with others do we find that we are not alone to face challenging situations. The national leadership should also be keen in communicating the progress of their respective portfolios so that the membership is duly informed. Officials participating in provincial, national or international events should report on their experiences. I therefore appeal to everyone to submit materials to me for potential publication in Post Play. Ask questions, make your queries known, report your positive or even not so positive experiences, and offer suggestions or comments on any topic that you feel may be of interest to your fellow CABO members. To paraphrase a well-known saying from a former president of the United States: "Ask not what your country (newsletter) can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country (newsletter)." Looking forward to hearing from you in the very near future… Paul Deshaies Post Play Editor |
